Which Structures Need Dynamic Analysis ?

In general dynamic analysis can be performed in two ways, namely:

1.Response Spectrum Method

2.Time History Method

The structural engineer can choose any one of the above for the earthquake analysis of structures.

Dynamic analysis need be performed for all buildings other than regular buildings lower than 15m in seismic zone II.

Dynamic analysis shall be performed to obtain the design lateral force of the buildings.

Response spectrum method may be performed for any building using the design acceleration spectrum or by a site-specific design acceleration spectrum.

Time History method shall be based on an appropriate ground motion and shall be performed using accepted principles of earthquake structural dynamics.
